The Eco Team is committed to reducing our environmental impact through a range of sustainable initiatives. The Sewing Group repurposes pre-loved fabric into tote bags for delivering food parcels to vulnerable guests, and turns old towels and tea towels into reusable cleaning cloths for the hall.

We have four compost bins that reduce waste by turning food scraps and cardboard into compost. So far, we've kept 272 bags of food waste from going to the landfill. We’ve also recycled 181 bags of plastic, keeping 454 bags out of general waste. In the hall, we reuse materials like paper bags and jars instead of using new plastic bags. In addition, we’ve made our bread section completely plastic-free, using only biodegradable or compostable bags.
The Events and Projects group also collects pre-loved clothes, household items, baby equipment and toys year-round, reducing waste while supporting those in need.

Looking ahead, the Eco Team continues to work toward reducing all hall waste and aims to introduce a refill scheme, as well as offering plastic-free laundry and period products for food bank guests.
